Notes: I had always wanted to visit the catacombs of Paris, and last year on tour lamb of god had a day off there, so some of our crew and I descended into the ancient underworld. There is an engraving above the stone entrance to the catacombs that reads “ARRÊTTE! C’EST ICI L’EMPIRE DE LA MORT”, meaning “Stop! Here is the empire of death.” Walking through the tunnels stacked high with the bones of over six million corpses, I thought of our band’s song title, “Memento Mori”, which translates into “Remember you must die.” One day we will all join the empire of death, for it is the only sure thing in this life. Remember this and use your time wisely.
